Mount Tai, one of the five famous mountains in China, is located in the central part of Shandong Province, between Tai'an, Jinan and Zibo, with a total area of 242,000 hectares.

The main peak, Yuhuangding, is 1545 meters above sea level and has a magnificent momentum. It is known as "the first mountain in the world".

1、礦產(chǎn)資源

泰山地區(qū)礦產(chǎn)資源豐富，有煤、鐵、巖鹽、石膏、硫磺、蛇紋石、麥飯石、木玉石、碧玉等礦產(chǎn)。泰山及其周圍，現(xiàn)已發(fā)現(xiàn)和探明的礦產(chǎn)已有40余種。

作為第一能源的煤炭，儲(chǔ)量豐富，分布在泰山周圍的肥城、新汶、寧陽等3個(gè)煤田，是山東省的主要煤產(chǎn)地之一。接觸交代型的鐵礦，分布在泰山的東麓及其南側(cè)，其富鐵礦石量多質(zhì)優(yōu)，是山東省最大的富鐵礦產(chǎn)地。

因?yàn)闁|方是生命之源，希望和吉祥的象征。而古代中國先民又往往把雄偉奇特的東岳視為神靈，把山神作為祈求風(fēng)調(diào)雨順的對象來崇拜。

于是地處東方的泰山便成了“萬物孕育之所”的“吉祥之山”、“神靈之宅”。受天命而帝王的“天子”更把泰山看成是國家統(tǒng)一，權(quán)力的象征。為答謝天帝的“授命”之恩，也必到泰山封神祭祀。
