英語日期的表達(dá)方法
在日期方面，美英的表達(dá)方式是有差別的。以日為先，月份為后，此為英國式，美國式則與此相反。
如二零零九年三月二日的寫法：March 2, 2009（美），2nd March 2009（英）。
在美式的寫法中，1st， 2nd， 3rd的st， nd， rd是不使用的。由于日期書面表達(dá)不同，讀法也不一樣。如1987年4月20日，英式的寫法是20th April 1987，讀成the twentieth of April， nineteen eighty-seven；
美式的表達(dá)是April 20,1987，則讀成April the twentieth， nineteen eighty-seven。同樣，全部用數(shù)字表達(dá)日期時，英美也有差別。
1998年5月6日按照英國式應(yīng)寫成6/5/98，而按照美國式應(yīng)寫成5/6/98；01/08/1998是英國式的1998年8月1日，按照美國的表達(dá)方式卻是1998年1月8日，美國的1998年8月1日應(yīng)寫成08/01/1998。
日期的表示法
1、日期的寫法(書面語)和讀法(口語)稍有不同：
如“十月一日”可以寫成October1
October1st
1stOctober
(the)1stofOctober等
表示月份的詞也可用縮略式，如Oct.1，1Oct.
但是在口語中通常只有兩種讀法October(the)first或thefirstofOctober。
2、日期與星期排列時，通常是星期在前，日期在后。
如：HearrivedonFriday，May10.
他于5月10日(星期五)到達(dá)。
3、日期的縮寫
以-first結(jié)尾的，寫成數(shù)字就要加st。如：thirty-first，31st
以-second結(jié)尾的，寫成數(shù)字就要加nd。如：twenty-second，22nd
以-third結(jié)尾的，寫成數(shù)字就要加rd。如：thirty-third，33rd

20th也有世紀(jì)、第二十的意思，例句：
Einstein was one of the greatest thinkers of the 20th century.
愛因斯坦是20世紀(jì)最偉大的思想家之一。
