Dolphins are marine mammals that are closely related to whales and porpoises. There are almost forty species of dolphin in 17 genera. They vary in size from 1.2 m and 40 kg up to 9.5 m and 10 tonnes. We now know they do not use their ears to receive their sounds,but the lower part of the mouth,called the jaw.Dolphins have bigger brain in proportion to their body size than humans have and they live a long life—at least 20 or 30 years.
