不列顛百科全書(shū)由世界各國(guó)、各學(xué)術(shù)領(lǐng)域的著名專(zhuān)家學(xué)者（包括眾多諾貝爾獎(jiǎng)得主）為其撰寫(xiě)條目。該書(shū)囊括了對(duì)人類(lèi)知識(shí)各重要學(xué)科的詳盡介紹，和對(duì)歷史及當(dāng)代重要人物、事件的詳實(shí)敘述，其學(xué)術(shù)性和權(quán)威性為世人所公認(rèn)。2012年3月宣布停印紙質(zhì)版，將全面轉(zhuǎn)向數(shù)字版。
