在英譯漢中，需要根據(jù)原文語境，正確運用詞語重復方法，將英文避免重復的詞語再現(xiàn)于漢語之中。這種反復使用某些詞語的翻譯方法就叫重譯法。 一般說來，重譯法有如下三個功能：一是為了明確；二是為了強調；三是為了生動。一、 為了明確（一）名詞的重譯 在英文中名詞第二次出現(xiàn)時，經(jīng)常會以代詞來代替，甚至有時還會出現(xiàn)省略的情況。這種情況漢譯時必須進行必要的重復，否則會影響句子意思的表達。 1.重復作賓語的名詞 (1)Let us first begin to revise our safety and sanitary regulations. 讓我們首先來修改一下我們的安全規(guī)則和衛(wèi)生規(guī)則吧。 (2) We should learn how to analyze and solve problem. 我們應學會如何分析問題和解決問題。 2.重復作表語的名詞 (1) Peter is your friend as much as he is mine. 彼得既是你的朋友，也是我的朋友。 (2) She became a millionaire-all by herself. 她成為一個百萬富翁--一個白手起家的百萬富翁。 3.重復英語介詞短語前所省略的名詞 英語中常重復使用介詞短語，共同做某一名詞的后置定語，并將第二個、第三個介詞短語前的名詞省略，譯成漢語時則往往要將此名詞重譯。 (1)This man often got into argument with his colleagues or with the boss. 這個人經(jīng)常和他的同事們爭吵，或者同老板爭吵。 (2) Ignorance is the mother of fear as well as of admiration. 無知是羨慕的根源，也是恐懼的根源。 4.重復英語中作先行詞的名詞英語定語從句常用關系詞引導，它一方面代表定語從句所修飾的那個先行詞（名詞或代詞），另一方面在從句中擔任一個成分。漢語中沒有關系詞，在英譯漢時，往往需要重復翻譯這個作先行詞的名詞。 (1)My uncle was born in Beijing, which is the capital of China. 我叔叔出生于北京，北京是中國的首都。 翻譯英語中的同位語時，在譯文中有時也可以重復其先行詞。 (1)All of these arrangements were a prelude to the ball, the hostess' ultimate prize. 所有這些安排都是這次舞會的序曲，舞會才是女主人的最終目的。 (2) Water can be decomposed by energy, a current of electricity. 水可由能量來分解，所謂能量也就是電流。（二）動詞的重譯 1.英語句子常用一個動詞連接幾個賓語或表語，在漢語譯文中往往要重復這個動詞。 (1) Is this man an American or an English? 這人是一個美國人呢，還是一個英國人？ (2) People forget your face first, then your name. 人們首先忘記你的容貌，接著又忘記你的名字。 2.英語句子中動詞后的介詞多次重復使用而省略動詞，在漢語譯文中則要重復動詞以代替英語中重復的介詞。 He no longer dreamed of storms, nor of great occurrences, nor of great fish, nor fights, nor contests of strength. 他不再夢見風濤，不再夢見驚人的遭遇，也不再夢見大魚、搏斗和角力。 （三）代詞的重譯 1.英語用代詞替代前文所屬的人或物，因此代詞在英文句子里出現(xiàn)頻繁。翻譯時往往按漢語習慣重復其所代替的名詞。 (1) Ignoring a problem does not solve it. 對一個問題置之不理，并不能解決問題。 (2) Ann opened her eyes. They were filled with tears. 安娜睜開眼睛，眼里充滿了淚水。 (3) Each country had its own customs. 各國有各國的風俗。 2.英語中強勢關系代詞或強勢關系副詞whoever, whenever, wherever等等，翻譯成漢語時往往使用重譯法處理。 (1) Whoever works hard will be praised. 誰努力工作，誰就會受到表揚。 (2) Wherever severe oppression existed, there would be revolution. 哪里有殘酷的壓迫，哪里就有革命。3.英語中some...and others...(some..., others...)連用的句子，譯成漢語時主語往往是謂語重復形式的“的”字結構，有時也可用“有的……，有的……”句式。 Some are playing football, others are playing volleyball. 踢足球的在踢足球，打排球的在打排球。（或：有的在踢足球，有的在打排球。） 二、為了強調英語句子中往往重復關鍵性的詞，以給讀者留下深刻的印象，英譯漢時往往可以采用同樣的重復手段。1.英語原文中有詞的重復，譯成漢語時可以保持同樣的詞的重復。 (1) Work while you work, play while you play. 該工作時就工作，該玩時就玩。 (2) Blood must atone for blood. 血債要用血來還。 (3) Year after year and century after century the moon goes through its cycle. 一年又一年，一個世紀又一個世紀，月亮盈虧變化，周而復始。 此外，英語對仗句的前后兩部分中往往有詞的重復，譯成漢語時對仗句可以保持同樣的重復。 (1) Eye for eye, tooth for tooth. 以眼還眼，以牙還牙。 (2) Out of sight, out of mind. 眼不見，心不念。 2.英語原文中有詞的重復，譯成漢語時有時可以用同義詞重復之。 (1) No pains, no gains. 不勞無獲。三、 為了生動出于譯文行文上的考慮，有時雖然英文原文中沒有詞的重復，翻譯時為了使譯文生動，有時也可以采用一些重譯手段。 (1) He showed himself calm in an emergency situation. 他在情況危急時，態(tài)度從容，鎮(zhèn)定自若。 1.運用兩個四字詞組 漢語中有大量四字詞組，這是漢語的一大特點。為了使譯文符合忠實、通順的標準，譯者有時可酌情運用兩個同義或近義的四字詞組，這也可以說是一種重復。 2.運用詞的重疊詞的重疊是漢語中常用的一種修辭手段。英譯漢時，我們可適當采用這種手段，特別是字重疊詞組，使譯文生動活潑，通順達意。 (1) His speech was flat. 他的講演平平淡淡。 (2) I had been completely honest in my replies, withholding nothing. 我的回答完全是坦坦蕩蕩，直言不諱。3.運用四字對偶詞組 漢語中有不少四字對偶詞組，在這四字中前后兩對字形成對偶，往往具有相同或類似的含義，所以也是一種重復。英譯漢時我們可酌情采用此類四字對偶詞組，使譯文顯得生動活潑。(1) The trial, in his opinion, was absolutely fair. 據(jù)他看來，這次審判是絕對公平合理的。 (2) But at that time, he was the only man there. 但是當時他是那里獨一無二的男人。
