擴(kuò)展資料：
國家自然科學(xué)基金依托單位是科學(xué)基金制運(yùn)行的重要樞紐，是組織實(shí)施科學(xué)基金項(xiàng)目的重要依托。截至2010年1月，有2257家符合條件的科研機(jī)構(gòu)在國家自然科學(xué)基金委員會注冊為依托單位。
從2011年開始，新增科學(xué)基金依托單位即可獨(dú)立向國家自然科學(xué)基金委員會申請國家自然科學(xué)基金項(xiàng)目。
事業(yè)單位分為：
1、社會公共福利性單位，如醫(yī)院、學(xué)校、圖書館等。
2、本身無行政權(quán)力，但受有行政權(quán)力部門委托，部分代為行使行政行為的單位，如交通局下屬的車輛檢測中心、科研部門等。
3、由行政機(jī)關(guān)設(shè)立的福利性商業(yè)機(jī)構(gòu)，賓館，招待所，警用物資商店、公開發(fā)行的內(nèi)部刊物部門等。
說白了就是按照行政體制管理，干的是企業(yè)的工作的單位就是事業(yè)單位。是介于機(jī)關(guān)和企業(yè)之間的一個產(chǎn)物。
事業(yè)單位一般是國家設(shè)置的帶有一定的公益性質(zhì)的機(jī)構(gòu)，但不屬于政府機(jī)構(gòu)，與公務(wù)員是不同的。一般情況下國家會對這些事業(yè)單位予以財政補(bǔ)助。分為全額撥款事業(yè)單位，如學(xué)校等，差額撥款事業(yè)單位，如醫(yī)院等，還有一種是自主事業(yè)單位，是國家不撥款的事業(yè)單位。
